Back in the 1960s in California, there was avisionary custom bike builder who pushed the boundaries with some really unconventional custom motorcycle designs. That man was Arlen Ness.

Arlen Ness was born in Minnesota in 1936, but it was in California in the 1970s where he really started to leave his mark on the motorcycling world and became a prominent figure in the motorcycle community with his strong desire to build bikes that defied expectations.

His first bike was a 1947 Harley Davidson Knucklehead that he purchased in 1962.  It was the bike that was the start of something very special. Like many of the worlds best brands he started work customising the bike  in his own garage where he designed, chopped and fabricated.  In the end he came up with a custom chopper that he called “The Untouchable”. Now that bike won many awards at numerous custom bike shows. His bike collection grew and he started to really get noticed by motorcycle journo’s and magazines.

Now not everyone can afford to get someone else to customise there bike, but I think you’d agree that anyone who attempts to build a custom is always looking for quality parts for their own build.  Arlen Ness recognised this and started to develop a range of custom parts like handlebars, fenders and mirrors. Arlen Ness Motorcycle Accessories was born and continues to operate to this day out of there shop in Dublin, California. 

For over five decades, Arlen Ness has been empowering riders with top-notch gear that elevates their riding experience. With a passion for innovation and a keen eye for design, Arlen Ness unveiled the first line of motorcycle jackets in the late '70s, forever changing the landscape of rider apparel.
