I feel the need…

Ross from Biker Torque’s experience on an 80’s Classic.

When I think I popular bikes from the 1980s there’s a few that spring to mind.  Brands like BMW, Ducati and Harley had some bikes of note, but it was the land of rising sun that really dominated the decade in what really was a golden era for the Japanese motorcycle industry.

Innovative engineering, cutting-edge design and unrivalled performance converged to create a wave of iconic two-wheeled machines. From the Suzuki Katana, the Yamaha V-Max and the Honda RC30, Japanese manufacturers left a lasting mark on the motorcycle industry during the decade and in my opinion no bike left a bigger mark than the legendary Kawasaki GPZ900R.

Riding the Kawasaki GPZ900R is a quite an experience but it's not just raw power that makes it so special. For it’s time, the bike was a masterpiece of engineering, with advanced suspension, brakes, and handling that provided a level of control and precision that was unparalleled. Every twist of the throttle, every lean into a curve, is a symphony of grace and control.

This is another classic that I would simply love to have in the garage.  It’s got a cool factor and for many riders like myself it represents a golden era of sports tourers.

For a full review of this bike head over to YouTube or check out Ross' article in the latest edition of Australian Motorcyclist Magazine.

Ross can be regularly spotted out for a ride on one of his bikes in search of a pie shop. He’s also one of the producers of Biker Torque on YouTube.
