Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: An Adventure Sport Tourer That's Hard to Define

The Ducati Multistrada V4RS is a head-turner. Its styling is undeniably striking, with plenty of carbon fibre and a distinctive beak and headlight. We reckon it joins the ranks of modern adventure tourers with a somewhat bird-like aesthetic, maybe thats just us, but the red accents really make it pop.

The build quality is exceptional, with quality switchgear and a host of impressive tech specs, including lean sensitive rider aides, a suite of rider modes and the  biggest blind spot monitoring lights we have ever used. While the bright blind spot indicators might be mistaken for turn signals by some drivers, the added visibility is a definite plus.

This bike boasts the Desmosedici V4 engine, the same one found in the Panigale V4, a World Super-bike winner. This engine is nothing short of superb, delivering crazy power. The handling is equally impressive, thanks to fully adjustable Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension. It offers super-bike-like handling, even for less experienced riders, and the quick shifter is incredibly smooth and rewarding to use. The dry clutch feels robust, adding to the bike's dynamic feel.

The Multistrada V4 RS sits in a niche market, alongside bikes like the BMW M1000XR. The build quality is top-notch, and the sound, with its dry clutch rattle, is pure Ducati. The menu is easy to navigate, and features like radar-assisted cruise control work flawlessly. The ABS braking system is also class-leading.

However, the Multistrada V4 RS isn't without its quirks. The engine, while powerful, might be too much for the average sports tourer. It also runs hot, especially in city traffic, and the fuel range is limited due to its thirsty engine.

Who is this bike for?

This is the $57,000 dollar question. The Multistrada V4 RS is a blast on open country roads, where you can tap into its power. However, that very power makes it less practical for everyday riding. It almost feels more at home on a racetrack. While dynamically, the handling is effortless and enjoyable, and it encourages spirited riding, the sheer power can be overwhelming.

Ultimately, the Ducati Multistrada V4RS is a unique and exciting machine. It's a blend of adventure tourer and super-bike, and while its target audience might be a bit of a mystery, it's sure to thrill those who appreciate its raw power and exceptional handling.
